Most elementary Physics teaching is wrong and if you progress to undergraduate and then graduate level you will find yourself re-learning stuff from elementary levels again in a more generic and fundamental form. One small example is the simplification of systems to allow them to be solved using elementary methods, see link below. Conceptually, the Lagrangian/Hamiltonian formulation of mechanics is easier to understand than the Newtonian and can be related to Noether's theorem and the whole symmetry/conservation law isomorphism which is at the heart of physics.

Why is Physics so Difficult?
